The ladies started the indoor season on a fantastic note with a few new players joining the team, as well a few of the oldies from the outdoor season continuing their bid in the Indoor SM division. Due to the nature of our club in terms of players coming and going within Finland, we have lost a few players this season but the new ones joining our ranks are making up for the loss of players.
Family & Friends Enjoying The Day
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome back the oldies and say hello to the newbies. The team that represented The Helsinki Warriors today are Vicky Demarret, Anna Lenkova, Eija Lyttinen, Angela Scudier, Riina Lansikallio, Taryn Baker, Rowina D’Amico (A), Juliana Häkkilä and Elisa Vaittinen (C).
Some Footage Of Today’s Matches
The ladies played two intense matches and managed to secure valuable victories in both their outings on the playing field today. In their first match, they faced Vantaa Hockey Club, whom they beat in convincing fashion. The final score in this encounter was 7-0. The goal scorers were Angela Scudier, who added 5 goals to her starting tally in addition to Rowina D’Amico and Elisa Vaittinen with 1 goal each. Vantaa HC was unfortunately not able to score in this encounter, but we wish them the best in their future match fixtures.
In their second encounter of the day the ladies faced an ever-challenging and often invincible ABC. ABC struck early when Anu Mäkelä-Tihveräinen, assisted by Elena Ronkainen, scored ABC’s only goal in this match-up within the first 19 seconds of the match. After this ABC could not convert any further goal scoring opportunities. The Warriors managed to outdo ABC by scoring two goals off the stick of Angela Scudier. Elisa Vaittinen assisted in the scoring of the first goal and Juliana Häkkilä assisted in the scoring of the second goal.
This seasons promises to be an exciting one, if matches like this continue to be the trend, and the ladies are certainly capable of sustaining and developing this momentum going forward. We would like to thank Vantaa and ABC for the matches today and we look forward to all of the upcoming encounters. To all the ladies, thank you for your hard work on the playing turf today. This game is played as a team and everyone’s contributions are highly appreciated and valued.
We would also like to thank all of the umpires (Jouni and Juan), as well as the officials for the matches today, and for the manner in which the matches were handled. We look forward to experiencing a respectful season where equity and equality is the name of the game, in your capable hands. In addition to the officials, we would like to thank our supporters, who sat in the stand, for rooting our players on. Hopefully, we will see some of you on the field with us soon.
Video Evidence Is Always Great
A tough encounter as the video footage indicates. If the intensity is anything to go by, this season will be a thriller. The match was played in good spirit and the enthusiasm and excitement were tangible.
What An Epic Battle
The girls were tenacious in their pursuit to keep the ABC players at bay, and ultimately prevented the opponents from scoring again. The team’s perseverence and resolve yielded positive results as the final score indicated.
