The Helsinki Warriors 1st-Division Mixed team had a fantastic day at the Mixed Division indoor hockey tournament in Myyrmäki today. The team is looking good as they continue their bid in the indoor season. Here Elisa, our captain for today can be seen snapping one of the players snacking on a doughnut with a fellow ABC player, Martina, joining in.
In their first match, the Warriors faced a determined Vantaa HC with a mixture of older and younger talented players. The first half was a tough affair but the Warriors persevered and continued fighting to beat their opponents by 5 goals to 3. The team was elated with this victory and Vantaa HC played a valiant match. The goals in this encounter were scored by Pim Beem (2), Noel Cavernelis (1), Paramprit Gill (1) and Manraj Singh (1). Several valuable assists contributed to the final score and the players who facilitated this were Pim Beem, Hayden Gwindi and Gurdit Gill. We are also elated to have our goalkeeper, Bob Joosten, back in goals again.
In their 2nd encounter, the team faced a very determined and aggressive Porvoo HC, who plays a very physical indoor game. This was a tough encounter and the Warriors missed several scoring opportunities. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. Today’s matches leave the Warriors in 3rd position on the points table with room for development in the upcoming matches. The goal for the Warriors in this encounter was scored by Pim Beem.
We would like to thank our opponents Vantaa HC as well as Porvoo HC for the matches today and we look forward to meeting you again soon. Our gratitude is also extended to our umpires today: Juan, Miksu and Kari. We would also like to thank our club president Vicky Moga for his continued support, coaching advice and encouragement.
