The Helsinki Warriors under-16 team had an early morning train journey to Seinäjoki to compete at a scheduled under-16 indoor hockey tournament.
Despite the early start to the day, the boys and their coach, Vicky Moga went to the tournament as prepared as possible in the hopes that all the training and game strategizing would pay dividends.
In their first match, the Warriors faced a determined Seinäjoki United, and even though the opponents towered over the Warriors players in terms of their sheer size and physicality, the Warriors remained resolute and played their own game. This encounter ended in a 4-4 draw. The Warriors were unfortunate to have the opponents score the equalizing goal towards the end of the playing session. Paramprit Gill scored 3 goals in this encounter and Manraj Singh 1 goal.
In their 2nd encounter, the boys faced HC Kilppari and motored forward in impressive style, beating their opponents by 11 goals to 1. Due to the 10 goal difference, the game was officially called to an end in terms of scoring, but the players continued playing till official playing time ended the match. The Warriors managed to score between 6 to 7 goals more but coach Vicky Moga stopped counting at some point during the course of play.
Goals scored in this encounter came off the sticks of Paramprit Gill (3), Aadit Phull (2), Gurdit Gill (3), Manraaj Singh (3). The boys played a phenomenal match and several valuable assists contributed towards the final result. With dedication and hard work nothing is beyond one’s grasp and the boys definitely showed this today. Thank you to all the players and coach Vicky Moga for all the time, commitment and effort. Jobanvir Khaira did a fantastic job of keeping the goal tally against the Warriors low by making some superb saves.
